How useful is it to vote for Green parties in the upcoming EP elections?

I've been increasingly concerned about ecosystem collapse such as the bird and insect decline recently (as well as climate change but that's a less emotional issue), and I feel like individual action is mainly a distraction to keep people from thinking about changing the whole system. Obviously voting in parties in favor of at least investigating sustainable agriculture is important if I'm concerned about this, but politics is such a clusterfuck I can't figure out the exact ramifications of voting green, and wondered if anyone was able to discuss policies on green issues on the European level, and whether the green bloc is any use at all. Are they enacting any useful legislation or investigation? Do they have any harmful policies?

In Lithuania we have a fake green big-agri party but there's another green party that does seem to focus on ecological issues, and I'd like to see them have some voice on a grander scale than Lithuania where no one cares. I've heard the German Greens are douches but don't have any specific examples right now.

Sorry if this is too moronic, I'm not usually a green voter so I'm less informed on the matter but seeing insects disappear is fucking terrifying and really brings the point home. I don't think any of the parties I usually vote for have any regard for the important things.

Got any opinions?
